Help us name the new public space proposed in the San Diego Black Arts + Culture District. We are seeking name recommendations that meet the following criteria:
Reflect local culture and history
Inspire public art and events
Enrich the cultural landscape
Please do not recommend individual names (such as those of people)
Our space is in the 6300 block of Imperial Avenue, next door to The Block Club. Once renovated, the open area will host a variety of arts and cultural programs for the community. The activities will be community driven and may include Art exhibitions, Storytelling events, Theatrical Performances and even Cooking classes featuring recipes that feel "just like mama used to make.” This new space will serve as a cultural hub that encourages cross-cultural exchange, creativity, learning, sharing, and healing. It will complement nearby venues such as The Mental Bar, The Block Club, and Graffiti Gardens, while offering a welcoming gathering place that adds something distinct to Imperial Avenue.
All submissions are due by Friday, July 31, 2026.
